Wouldn't it be annoying to make lots of changes to a picture and save it and then you discover that it isn't what you wanted at all after you're finished?

Well the good news is that in Word 2007, it is possible to preview a change before you actually apply it. Suppose you would like to see how your photo will look with rounded corners.

Follow the steps below to discover how to accomplish this task:

  1. Launch MS Word if it is not already open.

  2. Click the photo that you would like to enhance to select it.

  3. Under Picture Tools, click the Format tab.

  4. In the Picture Styles group, click the down arrow once to display Row 2 of the overall visual styles. Point to the Reflected Rounded Rectangle style. You will find this in the second row, it is the first style.

  5. MS Word will display a preview of the style for your perusal.

  6. Click the Reflected Rounded Rectangle Style to apply it.

Suppose you would like to see how a dropped shadow would look but you don't want to go to the trouble to effect that change if it turns out you may not like it? Thank goodness it is very easy to see what this effect will look like without doing anything permanent!

Follow the steps below to view a dropped shadow before applying the attribute:

  1. Click your photo to select it.

  2. Under Picture Tools, click the Format tab.

  3. In the Picture Styles group, point to the Drop Shadow. This is the fourth style in the first row.

  4. MS Word will display a preview of the style and you can decide whether you would like to effect that change or not.

  5. Once you see a preview of the style and decide that you like it, click to apply the style.

  6. Under Picture Styles, click Picture Effects.

  7. Point to Shadow.

  8. Click Shadow Options.

  9. Move the distance slider to 45 pt.

  10. Click Close.

You're finished! MS Word 2007 certainly makes life a bit easier doesn't it?
