Searching For These Celebrities Could Be Trouble

Security firm McAfee has released its list of the most dangerous celebrity search terms. Essentially, it's a list of celebrity names that too often result in web surfers visiting malware-laced websites.

This year the most dangerous celebrity is Lily Collins, daughter of famous rocker Phil Collins and star of "Mirror, Mirror" and "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones." Collins was also ranked fourth on People's 2012 list of the World's Most Beautiful People.

McAfee says there's a 14.5 per cent chance that you'll end up on a malicious website if you use the web to find information about the English actress.

Women Dominate Dangerous Celebs List

In second place: Canadian pop-rock singer Avril Lavigne. McAfee says searching out information about her results in users landing on malicious sites 12.7 per cent of the time. (Source: pcworld.com)

Actress Sandra Bullock, winner of an Academy Award for Best Actress in 2010, is the third most-dangerous celebrity. Searches for her resulted in web users landing on malicious sites just under 11 per cent of the time.

Rounding out the top ten: actress Kathy Griffin (10.6 per cent), actress Zoe Saldana (10.5 per cent), pop star Katy Perry (10.4 per cent), pop star Britney Spears (10.1 per cent), actor Jon Hamm (10 per cent), model Adriana Lima (9.9 per cent), and actress, model, and singer Emma Roberts (9.8 per cent). "Mad Men" star Hamm is the only man to crack the top ten, though Justin Timberlake and Patrick Dempsey rank twelfth and thirteenth, respectively.

Big Changes From 2012 List

Obviously there are a lot of changes from McAfee's 2012 list of the web's most dangerous celebrities, which was headed by Harry Potter star Emma Watson. Not a single celebrity who appeared in the top ten of the 2012 list has cracked the top ten this time around.

The most shocking change from 2012 may be the absence of actress Jessica Biel, whose name has been landing people on malicious websites for years. In fact, Biel appeared on McAfee's top ten most dangerous celebs list every year between 2009 and 2012.
