Quite a few people have written to me complaining about Word 2007's spelling and grammar feature. Many times people complained about previous versions when they displayed the red and green squiggly lines under words but in this latest version, they are complaining about correct words marked as misspelled.
This is not a problem within Word's Spelling and Grammar utilities. The editing language has somehow been changed in the latest version.
If this happens to you, you can change your option so that it will not recur.
Follow the steps below to find out how:
- Click the Office button.
- Select Word Options.
- Click Language Settings on the Popular tab. Make sure your preferred language is selected under Primary editing language.
- Select any unwanted languages under Enabled editing languages.
- Click Remove.
- Click OK twice.
MS Word will only check spelling and grammar for the language you have enabled. If you need to check spelling and grammar for a different language in the future, you will need to enable editing for that language.
