HP Unveils Super-Powerful 27-Inch All-in-One PC

All-in-one PCs are becoming more popular these days with the advancements in technology and the ability to shrink computer components.

The new, smaller parts are more efficient and require less cooling (as well as power consumption) than their counterparts of yesteryear.

So far, however, there haven't been any 'must-have' all-in-one PCs on the market. That may change, however, with new offerings from Hewlett-Packard (HP).

Hewlett-Packard Unveils 27" Z1 Workstation

On a rainy Valentine's Day (February 14) in Las Vegas, HP unveiled what it calls the HP Z1 Workstation. Boasting a massive 27-inch display, the new system is certainly an eye-catcher.

It's what users will find 'under the hood' that has aroused the most interest in the new product.

HP Z1: Quad Core Xeon, Quadro Graphics

The Z1 Workstation features an Intel Quad-Core Xeon processor, which is essentially like having the power of 4 computers in 1.

It also boasts an Nvidia Quadro graphics card, which together support more than 1 billion colors on the computer's astoundingly huge display. (Source: venturebeat.com)

Next, the computer can be outfitted with a number of storage options, from the traditional hard drive to the quicker-loading solid state drive (SSD).

The system also supports removable drives, a media card reader, and can even accommodate a Blu-Ray rewriteable drive.

The unit's audio is equally impressive, thanks to the installation of high-quality, front-facing, dual-cone speakers. There's also a built-in high-definition webcam.

The eye-catching display, besides being both big and beautiful, boasts a 178-degree viewing angle, which allows people who aren't sitting squarely in front of it to read information or watch videos as easily as if they were.

Easier to Customize Than Previous All-in-One PCs

Beyond the wide range of high-powered components that are offered, the Z1 Workstation also features some handy customization options: users can open the machine and swap components in and out without needing any special tools.

Overall, it's a big improvement over HP's previous all-in-one ("AIO") PCs, which have been notoriously difficult to work with. (Source: venturebeat.com)

However, the Z1 Workstation isn't cheap: prices start at a whopping $1,899.

If that's within your budget, and you are looking for an extremely powerful, flexible, and advanced-design all-in-one computer, be aware that this one is expected to become available for purchase in April, 2012. (Source: hp.com)
