JPEGsnoop is a free Windows application that can be used to examine JPEG and AVI image files. It can also be used to analyze the source of an image, which allows one to test its authenticity. Not only can one use this software to determine the various settings that were active in the digital camera when it took the photo, one can also extract information from the image that indicates the quality and nature of the JPEG image compression algorithm used by the camera when saving the file.
