Test Disk
TestDisk is powerful free data recovery software. It was primarily designed to help recover lost partitions and/or make non-booting disks bootable again when these symptoms are caused by faulty software, certain types of viruses or human error (such as accidentally deleting a Partition Table). Partition table recovery using TestDisk is really easy.

Simon
Simon is peech recognition software developed for the handicapped, but usable by anyone. The project provides a ready-to-use interface for the julius CSR engine for a handicapped child who is not able to use the keyboard well. It integrates X11 and Windows Alpha; neither stable nor feature-complete, but it should give you a pretty good overview of what Simon will be like.
