Wikileaks Requests Website Visitors Donate Cash

Controversial document-sharing site Wikileaks is now asking visitors for donations before they are allowed to view files. The organization's database allegedly includes a quarter of a million diplomatic cables from US embassies. Its holdings and its use of them make Wikileaks, quite possibly, the most controversial website on the Internet right now. Wikileaks Facing Financial ... (view more)

Change File Save Location in MS Word 2007

Word 2007 by default stores your documents in the My Documents folder in Windows XP. If you are using Microsoft Vista, your documents will be stored in the Documents folder. The programmers most likely set this up in this manner so that you would ... always know where to find your files. Believe it or not, I have had users send me an email telling me that they have saved a Word document and have no idea where they have saved it! But, you may wish to store your documents in a different location, such as an external hard drive. If that is the case, you will have to use the File | Save As to ... (view more)

Your Printer May Be Spying On You

In yet another case where government appears to be above the law, the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) has issued a report warning that your printer may be spying on you. Some color laser manufacturers are encoding each page with identifying ... information -- secret code that could be used to identify the printer and, potentially, the person who used it. Without your knowledge or consent, an act you assume is private could become public. What's worse is that there are no laws to prevent abuse. There's little to stop the Secret Service from using printer codes to secretly trace the origin of ... (view more)

Acrobat Gets Animated, Takes on Big Boys

Adobe is taking on the likes of Microsoft and Google by making it easier to use its software online, meaning colleagues in different locations can create and work on documents together much more easily. The move coincides with the launch of Adobe ... Acrobat 9, the latest edition of their PDF software.
