FAQ (for free Tutorials)
How do I save a video
tutorial to my computer?
Using your favorite
web browser, Left Click over a video tutorial link to begin the download.
In the SAVE AS
dialogue box, choose a desired destination for the tutorial. A good
choice is to use the MY DOCUMENTS folder since you can access it from the
DESKTOP.
Once the tutorial is
downloaded, navigate to the MY DOCUMENTS folder, double click a tutorial to
begin viewing it.
When I view the tutorial, the lettering appears fuzzy. How do I make it
clearer?
The tutorial appears
fuzzy/distorted because your screen resolution is not set to 800x600.
To change your screen
resolution, click START -> SETTINGS -> CONTROL PANEL, and then double click
the Display Icon. Go to the Settings Tab at the top of the Display
Properties window and move the slider bar under Screen Settings to 800x600.
If your monitor does
not support this mode, the screen will go fuzzy for 15 seconds, but will then
default back to the previous mode. Wait patiently while the process
completes.
How can I
make the tutorial display on the entire screen?
By default, the
tutorial will open in full screen mode. To get out of full screen mode,
press ALT + ENTER at the same time.
How do I specify
where the tutorial is saved to?
Right click the link
instead of left clicking it. Read the section on
"How do I save a
video tutorial to my computer?"
Turning off hardware acceleration in Media Player should fix it.
How do I pause / resume the video?
Press the SPACE BAR on
your keyboard, or RIGHT CLICK your mouse, and select PAUSE.
How do I stop the video?
Press ESC on your
keyboard to bring yourself out of full screen mode. Then you can press
the X at the top right of the screen to exit the video window.
How do I fast forward / rewind the
video?
Press ESC on your
keyboard to bring yourself out of full screen mode. Press the PAUSE
button at the top, then drag the progress bar left or right to the position
you want. Press PLAY to resume the video.
After trying to play the video, I received an error
message:
"AVI CLASS NOT
REGISTERED"?
If you have the TSCC
codec installed on your system and you're using CamPlay.exe and you *still*
receive an error message, "AVI CLASS NOT REGISTERED", your Windows
Multimedia Registry is corrupt and needs to be repaired.
Techsmith (the makers
of CamPlay.exe) recommends that you:
- Download and
install Camtasia Studio
from the Techsmith web site.
- Run Camtasia
Studio.
- Select Capture ->
Record and open the Recorder.
- A message will
appear stating that your AVI registry entry is missing and will ask you if you
want to install the key. Click Yes.
Your system is then
patched -- try and run the video again.
When I try to play the video, it tells me I
don't have the appropriate decompressor?
Download and install
TSCC.EXE on your computer. You only need to run and install TSCC.EXE
once.
The video doesn't play / freezes on my computer.
