Thankfully, WinGuides (makers of Registry Mechanic) created a program called Email Saver Xe with email Inbox protection in mind.
Side Note: RSS is an acronym which stands for Really Simple Syndication. You can subscribe to RSS news feeds using a news reader application like NewsGator (compatible with MS Outlook as a 'plugin') to receive automated news updates as soon as they become available.

Automatic backup scheduling provides a set-it-and-forget-it system for backing up email data. Backups can be scheduled as often as hourly, although daily backups are probably sufficient.

Encrypted password protection keeps backup files secure. You can save password-protected email backups onto external media (such as CD or ZIP disk), knowing it will be secure from other people accessing your private messages.
Email Saver Xe: Backup, Restore, and Migrate data
Both backup and Restore and done through a simple to use wizard-driven interface. To migrate data to another machine, simply backup the email on one computer, and restore from backup on the second computer.
Conclusion
Before I started using a laptop as my primary computer, I would have to transfer my email information from my desktop to my laptop before taking business trips. Some settings would get lost, and I'd end up wasting an awful lot of time trying to get things synchronized. Now all I need to do is use Email Saver Xe to backup and transfer my rules, filters, and other relevant data. The program is truly a lifesaver for me, and it's interface is as simple as 1-2-3.
