Displaying the Style Area in MS Word 2007
One of my subscribers wrote to me recently asking:
Do you happen to know how to display paragraph style names in the document window under Word 2007. In the old word I used to go to tools, options, style area width and I cannot find it in MS Word 2007 and I use it constantly Lesley
My response:
You can still display the Style in MS Word 2007. Follow the steps below:
- Go ahead and start keying in text in your document or just open a document were you have already applied Styles.
- Click on Alt.
- Click on F.
- Click on I.
- You should now see the Word Options dialog box.
- Click on Display.
- Click on Advanced.
- Scroll down until you see Display.
- Where it says Style Pane Width in Draft and Outline Views, change it from zero to 0.5" or thereabouts.
You should now see the Style Pane on the left side of your document, showing the applied styles.
Once visible, the pane's width can be varied by dragging its right boundary. Drag all the way to the left to close it. Once closed though, it cannot be re-opened by dragging. It must be re-opened using the Advanced Display settings.
