Notepad++ 6.5.5
This is a free source code editor that supports multiple languages. Notepad++ uses far less CPU power than most other source code editing programs, meaning it won't big down your computer and can be used to save power, if necessary.
SmartPower 1.5.6
Set special rules for how your system uses power with SmartPower for Windows. This program allows you to schedule hibernation, sleep, and shutdown, allowing you to save energy and money. This program is ideal for people looking to reduce their electricity bill.

Notepad++
I'm a long time user of this editor and love it. It has a lot of good features for source code and general editing plus it's low system requirements allow it to operate very well across VPN and Remote Desktop type connections.
Also try editpad lite, pro
I've been using editpad (pro) for the last 8 years. It's another great editor, especially for syntax highlighting (programming) and the fact that you can associate multiple files under projects (and tabs).
