Yesterday's newsletter took quite a while to put together, so I'm going to relax a bit and get into some news about some recent changes to our web site.

RE: new eBook and video due next week

I am working on a new eBook and video dedicated to PC and Internet security. I plan to have this completed by the end of this weekend and hope to release it by next week.

In short, the eBook will accent previous discussions from our newsletters, while detailing the necessary steps to secure any Windows PC. Freeware software solutions will be reviewed in the eBook, whereas the video portion of the tutorial will illustrate how to install the solutions.

Both the eBook and video are downloadable and can be viewed on the computer. If you haven't had a chance to grab one of our downloadable learning videos or eBooks, you can browse through a list of free tutorials here.

Proceeds from the sale of the new eBook and video will go toward a badly-needed and dreadfully expensive $$ web server upgrade $$. You may recall that in mid February, the main infopackets server was hit with -- what appears to be -- an operating system exploit. The exploit was so bad that it brought the server down to its knees, and it took me over a week to write a program just to patch the problem and keep things under control. Details surrounding the events, including a free (and very cool) downloadable video can be accessed through our site.

RE: Mail Server changes

You may have noticed that the FROM: field of our email newsletter has now changed to This recent change was put into place after a number of users complained they were no longer receiving the newsletter (shortly after the new mail server was put into action).

This fix was necessary because some mail servers have a security features which reject all email from a source whose email address cannot be verified. Since the old email address was no longer valid, had to replace it.

If you are reading this now and you haven't received our newsletter via email in the last day, please review your email filters and ensure that our newsletter does not get accidentally discarded.
