Thanksgiving is officially upon us, which means there's going to be a ton of great deals being offered online as a result of the Holiday season -- deals like computer hardware, gadgets, HDTVs, and similar.

Because I have over 30 years of computing experience, I'm often asked my opinion about computer hardware, and especially about getting deals online. Family, friends, and of course, our valued newsletter subscribers often ask questions like, "What can I do to speed up my computer?", or "What type of laptop should I buy?" and things of that nature.

Like anyone else, I love a great deal. And, in order to find the best deal possible, sometimes I spend an entire day shopping online to compare prices and features of similar components. Sure, I take my time to do the shopping, but it all pays off in the end -- especially if you know what you're looking for and how to search for it.

Unfortunately, many of the "recommendations" I read online are forged for the sake of making a sale, which means I waste an awful lot of time browsing pages trying to figure out what information is truly useful, and what is not.

Lucky for you, that's where my expertise comes in.

Online Holiday Shopping The Easy Way

In North America, Black Friday marks the official start of the Holiday shopping season because it falls in line with American Thanksgiving, which is approximately 1 month away from Christmas Day.

There will be lots of you shopping online and looking for really great deals: whether it pertains to yourself or a loved one.

Over at Amazon.com, online holiday shopping is big business. In years past, I've received promotional emails from Amazon.com, promoting the holiday bargains, and I've visited their pages for "lightning deals", which last about 15 minutes. Oftentimes, however, these items just aren't of any interest to me or are quickly out of stock.

Needless to say, it's a disappointing experience and doesn't help me much in terms of where to go next. For the same reasons, I believe most of you reading this are going to be in the same boat, especially when it comes to buying gifts for others. Hence, the reason for writing this article.

What would be incredibly useful is a quick and dirty list of discounted items that we can click and browse with ease, and share with others. I have done exactly that with this article, and with the technology lover in mind.

Online Holiday Shopping: Information Overload

Today I spent around 5 hours putting together an easy-to-access list of products and pages that I believe will benefit most people reading this article.

These items are what I believe to be the most practical and highly sought after items. I've also included links to items that are non-computer oriented, and can save you a great deal of time navigating the Amazon site.

Why Shop at Amazon.com? Amazon offers the largest selection of products online. Amazon, as well as its list of sellers (retailers) sell their items through Amazon's website. Retailers list their items and compete against each other to have the lowest price listed on an Amazon product page. This competition lowers the price and often provides the consumer with the best deal online. Amazon also offers free shipping on orders above $50 in most cases.

To top it off, the days surrounding Black Friday means that price competition is at its highest, which means you'll find the absolute best deals online Amazon.com.

Of course, you don't have to go outside the comfort of your home to shop online Amazon.com, and you won't have to stand in long lines waiting to check out, or spend money on gas driving place to place. Amazon makes it extremely easy, and it's safe and secure. Once you use Amazon.com for your holiday shopping, you won't want to go back to brick and mortar stores. Ever!

The Black Friday Deals week at Amazon.com lasts until Sunday, November 25th. The list I have outlined below is of those deals.

The links below go straight to Amazon and a small portion of any sales as a result (about 4%) are credited to Infopackets. We use the revenue from proceeds to support our website, staff and writers. We appreciate and need your support so that we can continue publishing useful information. Thanks very much for your support!

Here is how I organized my list:

First, I've listed the most sought after items from a technology perspective. Included are: desktops, laptops, netbooks, hard disks, solid state hard drives, graphics cards, and similar. The list is conveniently placed in ascending order with discounts from 20% off to 50% off.

Next, I have listed miscellaneous deals (in general). These are non-technology items. Included are men, women's, and children's clothing, jewelry and watches, and things of this nature. Discounts are 50% to 70% off.
